Introduction
DWH is a project that allows us to see the main historical facts traveling through time and space. Its map shows us where were those facts, and what other things also happened near there, or in other parts of the world in that moment .
Context & correlation
No event occurs in isolation, and context is critical when looking for understand what happens. It is then possible to see what other things happened in a certain discipline during an important event, and also what happened in other areas.
It is easier to understand the Cuban missile crisis than it was close to starting a nuclear war between Russia and the United States if we see that the previous year, in the same island, the United States attempted a failed invasion at the Bay of Pigs, and that at the same time, on the other side of the world, the Russian space program took a giant step by sending astronaut Yuri Gagarin to space in the Vostok 1 spaceship.
In the same way, it is not the same if we read that Togo became independent of the French Empire in 1960, that if we are to "see" this in context, and we find other countries that went through the same process in the same year and in the same area.
That context is what helps us better understand the story. And the visual exploration of these events in context allows a better understanding of historical processes.
It's recommended to use a PC and a monitor with good resolution. Anyway, tables & mobile cellphones are also supported.
